The International Festival of Street Art 'Mueca' already has dates for the celebration of its fifteenth edition in the northern municipality of Puerto de la Cruz. Once again, this successful event with the performing arts will be held in mid-May, this time on the 11th and 14th.
Thus, once again, the streets of the Tourist City will serve as open-air stages for an intense parade of artists from many corners of the planet who, with the complicity of a large and loyal audience, will turn the Mueca Festival for a few days into national and international point of reference for the performing arts. For the Councilor for Culture, Sandra Rodríguez, "this artistic exhibition is a true reflection of what Puerto de la Cruz intends to be and is in the cultural field: illusion, joy, color and art in the street and with the complicity between Puerto de la Cruz and visitors”.
This cultural event has established itself as a meeting point for theater lovers in all its aspects, with a diverse program that offers a high-level artistic proposal, with an extensive program designed for all audiences and family enjoyment. Mueca is already one of the most important street theater festivals transcending internationally, which has led to its projection beyond its geographical area, the city that hosts it, the Canary Islands and Spain.
But Mueca is much more than four days of street art. The Festival has also positioned itself as an important element of revitalization of the city, allying itself with the tourism sector and becoming an effective and continuously growing tool not only for the internal and external promotion of Puerto de la Cruz itself, but also for the island of Tenerife. Thus, together with other major projects (within the Cultural Strategy of Puerto de la Cruz 2020) such as Phe, Festival Periplo, Canarias Jazz & Más, Puerto Street Art, Fiestas de San Juan or Cuatro Lunas, meaning is given to a unique Cultural Environment in the islands; in a city that is positioned as a generator and destination for creators, and as an engine of innovation in culture and tourism.
This Festival, which the people of Porto have made their own and live with enthusiasm like the rest of the cultural projects, was promoted through the Cómplices Mueca citizen platform, which has been infected by this feeling and is now preparing for a new edition, with the trajectory and necessary projection that make him one of the banners of Puerto de la Cruz. The countdown begins for Mueca 2017.
