Hand in hand with your most genuine spirit, from participation and consensus, Puerto de la Cruz will host a new edition of the Mueca Festival on the dates originally planned, that is, between the next days May 9 and 12. This was agreed and transmitted by the Cómplices Mueca Platform, the Puerto de la Cruz City Council and the Tenerife Cabildo, after the meeting held this Friday, April 12, at the headquarters of the Urban Development Consortium for the Rehabilitation of Puerto de la Cruz.
During the meeting, the representation of the City Council reiterated its apologies, both to the members of the Platform present and to the group of Puerto Rican citizenship, for the errors that led to the communication of the change of the festival date to the month of September, as well as for the way in which it was made public without consulting the Platform itself.
The recovery of the dates planned for the festival has been possible thanks to the involvement of the Cabildo de Tenerife who, at the request of the Porto city council and through the subscription of a collaboration agreement that will be signed promptly between the two administrations, it will facilitate administrative management as well as contracting and other aspects necessary for an event of this size and importance.
After making available the means and the procedure to follow, and in the conviction of being able to celebrate a new edition of the festival that ensures all the artistic, economic and promotional guarantees that the festival represents for Puerto de la Cruz and the island of Tenerife, both the members of the Platform and the institutional representatives agreed to hold Festival Mueca 2019 on May 9, 10, 11 and 12. It recovers in this way and strengthens the Mueca Festival for the future as cultural management model and participation citizen, characteristics that define its essence and for which it has received numerous international awards.
Together with the members of the Cómplices Mueca Platform, the institutional representation was formed by the president of the Cabildo, Carlos Alonso; the mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Lope Afonso; the Insular Director of Culture, José Luis Rivero; and the Councilor for Culture in Porto, Sandra Rodríguez.
