The Mueca International Street Art Festival once again excites, strengthening ties of complicity with the thousands of attendees who will come to its seventeenth edition. From May 9 to 12, more than 60 companies and artists will fill Puerto de la Cruz with the most innovative and committed stage and musical proposals for four intense days full of optimism.
The details of the programming were given today [Thursday 2] at a press conference held at the JardínBotNico from Puerto de la Cruz who was attended by the president of the Cabildo, Carlos Alonso; the insular director of Culture and Educationn, josé Luis Rivero, the mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Lope Afonso, and Hortensia Hernández as a representative of the Cómplices Mueca platform. In addition, Enrique Talg, vice-president of the north zone of Ashotel and Fernando Senante, manager of the Urban Consortiumistic for the Rehabilitation of Puerto de la Cruz.
The mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Lope Afonso commented that Mueca “is a full-fledged street festival” and highlighted, among the novelties of this year that “some features are added to facilitate greater and better comforts of all the services that are provided”. In that sense, he anticipated that there will be a “foresightexpanded parking lot and improved mobility services”.
In his speech, the president of the Cabildo indicated that “this year is going to be a turning pointnot important” in the history of the festival, where the “participation has to be reinforced”. In addition, he highlighted that “Mueca is an essential part of the Island's cultural strategy”.
Hortensia Hernández, spokesperson for the Cómplices Mueca platform, thanked all the parties involved for supporting the celebration of Mueca on the dates originally planned.“Emotion is what the platform carries in its backpack. Thanks to that illusion we can make the festival be held at the right time”.
Finally, the insular director of Education and Culture, Josand Luis Rivero, detailed the artistic proposals of Mueca this 2019, a program of which he praisedeither "the expansion of artistic languages, spaces and publicpublic” to whom they are directed. In addition, he commented that in this edition it will be possible tono see “all the variants of the circus”, discipline “that is undergoing an important renewal” in Spaina.
A total of 61 companies and artists, spread over 15 stages, in addition to the MasMueca establishments, will be present in the Mueca 2019 program with shows that range from the circus to the theater, passing through pieces of clown, dance, juggling, musical performances and performances. Hundreds of creators will join the audience to make the tourist city in the north of Tenerife a great showcase for the best local, national and international street art.

On this occasion, the programmingNo of Grimace expands its presence in the thematic streets and also the number of stages, adding the Botanical Space and moving Calle del Ingenio to Avenida de Colón, thus extending the perimeter of the festival. Another novelty of this edition is the increase in the activities planned for Sunday morning with twenty dance, music, circus shows and activities to enjoy with the family.
All the shows on the program are free except those that, due to capacity limits, require prior admission, which are the shows by La Pandilla ('The sick imaginary') in the Sala Timanfaya and Cía Zero en Conducta ('TRASHHHHHHHH!!!') in the Castillo San Felipe. Tickets will go on sale through the Mueca website, as well as at the festival information point located in front of the Customs House starting this Saturday, May 4.
The MásMueca venues will offer night programming during the celebration of the festival, thus expanding the already extensive cultural proposal of Mueca for this 2019 with the participation of Blanco Bar, Andana Beach Club, Limbo Pub, The Gramophone Bar and the Maga Hotel.
AOnce again, the Cómplices Mueca companies collaborate with the festival by providing their mobilization and support, a true reflection of the participatory spirit that characterizes this annual event with street art.

In addition to other spaces set up for vehicles in outlying areas, this year's novelty in this regard is the free and guarded parking area located in El Durazno, next to Luis Rodríguez Figueroa street, from which a special service will be available of buses available every 20 minutes.
