The Puerto de la Cruz Mueca International Street Art Festival puts tickets on sale for its twentieth edition this Friday, April 22. Tickets can be purchased through the festival website and the platform tickety.es.
Under the hashtag #20añosnoesnada, one of the most important festivals on the Canarian cultural scene is preparing to display almost a hundred proposals from May 5 to 8 in Puerto de la Cruz.
7 spaces, 4 universes and different routes will concentrate all the activity of this twentieth edition that has a model of collaborative management and citizen participation between the City Council of Puerto de la Cruz and the Cómplices Mueca platform.
20 years are not always celebrated, so the 2022 edition will be special. Not only because of the return to normality after the pandemic, but because of a program that has been carefully detailed and recalls some of the best moments of these two decades of participatory culture. In this way, some of the iconic companies in the history of Mueca will once again be in Puerto de la Cruz.
Likewise, the festival continues with its firm commitment to citizen participation through culture. An example of this is the participation of the Kamchàtka theater company and its show 'Fugit' in the Creative Universe. It is a traveling theater piece that will involve the public. According to the company, 'Fugit' is «a tribute to those who had the courage to get rid of the superfluous, abandon the known and go towards the hope of a better world. You too will have to choose."
The Puerto de la Cruz Mueca International Street Art Festival will present a firm commitment to dance in 2022. This is the case of the D'Click company with its show 'Latas', the Canarian company Javier Arozena with the piece 'Schwanengesang ' or MoBBA's proposal, which combines dance with video.
Mueca is a festival for everyone, with many cultural proposals to enjoy a great element: the family. The smallest and smallest will have their place in the programming of this twentieth edition. For example, you can enjoy Jabú puppet theater, Javier Rodríguez and his 'Clown' or Circ Pistolet with 'Perhaps there is no end'.
A collaborative management model
The International Street Art Festival once again strengthens its collaborative nature with a model of cultural management and citizen participation shared between the Department of Culture of Puerto de la Cruz and the Cómplices Mueca platform.
It is a structure that defines its essence and that has made it a benchmark and engine of the Cultural Environment of Puerto de la Cruz. Thus, Mueca joins this innovative experience of collective participation and shared management of culture as one of the driving projects of the city's cultural and creative ecosystem that places culture as a transversal axis together with the SDGs and that is aligned with the contemporary currents of thought such as the NBE (New European Bauhaus).
Mueca has the support of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the ICDC; the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, thanks to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Tenerife; of Aqualia and the Center for Initiatives and Tourism (CIT) of Puerto de la Cruz.
The participatory character of Mueca will also be reflected through the names of the spaces in which the shows will take place. In this twentieth edition, each space will have the name of an NGO or an association. This is the case of Asmipuerto – Association of Functional Diversity, José Luis Montesinos Canary Foundation and Vision Blue Autism
